Inspiration

Design considerations: The site is oddly shaped with a large space at the front and a long curved space beyond with high windows. The ceiling is unusually high as well.

Design approach: We looked to take advantage of the floorplan, maximizing the flexibility needed for a co-work space. As the height of the space was extreme, partially finishing the interior was a way to distinguish the work area while also creating intriguing contrast. the We established a datum line at the top of the windows below which the walls are finished in white. We floated ceilings off the walls so that the eye can travel beyond, making the space feel expansive. This raw and darkened space above provides insight into the construction of the building the tenants occupy.
