Modern Hillside Barn House
Tradition meets modern living
Inspiration
Design Considerations: The house is situated on a steep hill at the edge of the site, surrounded by a grove of plum trees.
Design Approach: The design mimics neighboring wood barns, contrasting sharply with the white-washed stone buildings in the village center. Constructed and clad in wood, the house blends with its rural surroundings.
The uppermost floor rises above the hilltop, connecting to a village footpath via a small bridge. This level houses the living room, kitchen, dining room, and a small medical practice. The middle floor is dedicated to bedrooms, suspended to optimize space and views. A continuous narrow balcony on the south side provides sun protection, while large glazed openings direct views toward the valley. The north façade features windows that guide views outward and upward to the mountain peaks. The flatter parts of the property are used as a garden.
