Inspiration

Design Considerations: The project is located in the small suburban town of Rum, where the surrounding homes set the scale for this new development. The client requested a 5-unit apartment building under one roof, emphasizing the need for a modern, sustainable structure that harmonizes with its environment.

Design Approach: To achieve this, we designed a compact structure wrapped in heavily insulated construction on the north, east, and west sides. This "blanket" of insulation ensures energy efficiency. In contrast, we opened the building to the southern exposure to harness natural heat during winter and to take advantage of the spectacular valley views.
