Inspiration

Design considerations: A beautiful cast iron building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn the client wanted to fit out a restaurant, and apartments above, including his own at the top.

Design approach: Working with the given structure, we stripped the interiors to the bare bones to expose its history, leaving the plans as open as possible, loft like living like the cast-iron buildings of Soho’s past.

At the owner’s loft, we devised a plan to take advantage of the tremendous views, notching a 3-dimensional window out of the roof and wall. This also allowed us to define the different spaces on the rooftop terrace.
